The ultrasonic skin spatula (aka a skin shovel or skin scrubber) combines ultrasonic frequencies with a stainless steel spatula to help unclog pores and exfoliate skin. It's small, compact and USB rechargeable design allows for easy use and removes the need for bothersome cables.
Ultrasonic cleaning is quite mild, meaning it's great if you have sensitive skin.
What Can an Ultrasonic Skin Spatula Be Used For?
- Unclogging pores
- Exfoliating skin
- Removing makeup residue
- Aiding serum absorption (to an extent, it's best used for exfoliation)
How Exactly Does This Work?
Ultrasonic frequencies, basically vibrations, loosen and draw out dead skin cells and debris from pores. After which, the stainless steel spatula slides over the skin and collects what has been extracted.
Are These Claims Scientifically Proven?
We could not find any medical studies (good or bad) on the effectiveness of ultrasonic skin spatulas. However, they are used by dermatologists (take for instance this article based on the views of two dermatologists: https://www.byrdie.com/ultrasonic-skin-scrubber-5095824).
